Posljednje informacije kažu da je najmanje 50 mrtvih a više od 3.000 povrijeđenih, potvrdio je ministar zdravlja.
Na hiljade ljudi, povrijeđenih danas u strahovitoj eksploziji u bejrutskoj luci, odvedene su u bolnice, ali mnogi su ostali zarobljeni u kućama koje su oštećene u eksploziji, izjavio je šef libanskog Crvenog krsta Džordž Ketaneh.
Ketanh je lokalnim medijima rekao da se još ne zna tačan broj povrijeđenih, jer su mnogi od njih zarobljeni ispod ruševina kuća u području gdje je došlo do eksplozije.Libanska televizija LBCI prenijela je informaciju iz Hotel Dieu bolnice u Bejrutu da nisu u stanju da prime još ljudi. Pojedine ljude spasavaju čamcima, prenio je Rojters.
Stotinama povrijeđenih su neophodne operacije, pa bolnica apeluje da se da krv.
Prva u nizu eksplozija se dogodila tokom popodneva, oko 18 sati po lokalnom vremenu, a zbog nje se treslo više dijelova grada, dok se gusti dim širi prijestonicom.

Neki lokalni mediji navode da se početna eksplozija dogodila u luci, a kasnije je objavljeno da je uzrok horora - eksplozija broda koji je prevozio pirotehniku.
Miljama oko mjesta eksplozije popucali su prozori na zgradama.
Libanski ministar zdravlja naredio je svim bolnicama u gradu da se pripreme da prime ranjene, dok je ministar zdravlja na TV rekao da ima veoma veliki broj povrijeđenih.
Potres je bio toliko jak da su se tresle okolne zgrade.
Pojedini mediji prenose snimke sa lica mjesta na kojima se vide izvaljeni prozori i namještaj koji kroz njih ispada.
Dopisnica France 24 Leila Molana Alen kaže da se stan u kom živi bukvalno raspao i dodaje da misli da je eksploziju izazvao "projektil ispaljen iz aviona".
Guverner Bejruta Filip Balos kaže da je ovo najveća nacionalna katastrofa u Libanu.
"Ovo je nacionalna katastrofa. U životu nisam vidio ovako veliku katastrofu. Ovo je katastrofa za Liban. Ne znamo kako ćemo se oporaviti od ovoga. Moramo ostati snažni i hrabri", rekao je pa briznuo u plač.
Eksplozija se, inače, dogodila u blizini kuće bivšeg premijera Libana Saada al-Haririja, javlja Anadolija.
Oštećena je Haririjeva kuća i još nekoliko okolnih objekata.
